Luck describes a favorable or unfavorable outcome attributed to chance rather than to skill, effort, or planning. As this site uses the term, it is a label applied after the fact to a chance outcome, not a measurable property or force that some people or objects possess more of than others.
A run of “good luck” or “bad luck” is frequently just an ordinary, expected feature of a random process — including the pattern where an unusually good or bad run tends to be followed by something more average, covered in full on regression to the mean.
